Definition:
Varicose veins are the tortuous (filled with excessive blood) veins of the calf region of the legs.
Causes:
- Jobs that involve standing for a long duration of time. Hard physical labor.
 - Second and third trimester of pregnancy. 
 
Symptoms:
- Visible tortuous veins over the calf region of the legs.
 - In severe cases, they look like small swellings.
 - Moderate to severe pain over the calves, especially while walking or standing. 
 
Do's & Don’t:
- A combination of juices of both carrot and spinach in a 500-ml dosage, daily, at breakfast.
 
Suggestions: 
- Avoid standing for long hours, or try to take breaks in between. Preferably, tie a tight bandage over the affected legs to prevent further damage to the veins. Soak feet in a hot decoction of deodar bark or roots of ten herbs (Dashamoola) for 10-15 minutes, every night. Massage the affected legs with medicated oils, or mustard oil, to relieve pain. Three tablets of  (myrobalans) and Triphala(myrobalans)  and Gum guggul (Comiphora mukul) in a 1-gm dosage, thrice, daily. Whilst sleeping, try to rest the legs on a pillow and keep them raised throughout the night to drain out excess blood from the veins. Tablets made of Asparagus recemosus (Shatavari) and Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha) in a 1-gm dosage, daily.  
 
Herbs Can Be Used :
- Message legs with cream of Ringelbumen flowers (calendula officinalis).
 - Apply paste of marigold on the affected leg.
